Trip Information

The northern side of Everest Base Camp Trek Starts from Tingri. It is a fantastic four days trek in the barren Tibetan land scape with scenic view of Everest. Everest Base Camp trek from north side (Tibetan side) starts from Tingri it is a high altitude wilderness trek along the ancient highland trail between Tingri to EBC, but it provides a wilderness experience on Tibetan plateu and you might even get lucky and see a Tibetan brown bear rambling in the pastures and also wild mule. It is a 70km trekking, which can be acomplished in 4 whole days. On the way to Everest Base Camp you will have enough time to explore the valleys and glaciers below the massive north-face of Mt. Everest and view the most magnificent world's highest mountain scenery.

You can also enjoy a shorter trek option from Rongbuk Monastery to Everest Base Camp, instead of the trek from Tingri to EBC. It only takes two hours to cover the 8km from Rongbuk to EBC. One day is enough for you to enjoy the cherishful scenery of Everest north face, and trek back to Rongbuk to be witness of Sunset over Mt. Everest. You will be staying at  good reviewed  3 star in Lhasa, Shigatse and Gyantse if you prefer better hotel there is always option to upgrade the hotel and if you prefer to get booked own prefer hotel we are always ready to book for you. In Everest base camp the Rongbuk Guest house is a local guesthouse with dormitory room and comon bath or camping can be prefered. There will be camping during trekking period. Our camping tents are well maintained two men tents for group members, dining and kitchen tents along with kitchen table and other necessary equipements. In kyirong it is good guesthouse but do not expect fancy.

Altitude Problem and Physical Fitness Required

It is a easy trekking, There is no level of physical fitness is required, everyone could join on the trek. It would be more helpful if you have previous trekking experience as the trail follows average 4200m one should prepare acordingly. We also advise our guest(s) to consult their doctor for vaccination and other medical requirements before taking the trip. Regular exercise, jugging, stretching and medication or yoga may be good idea before taking the trip.


We provide hygenic full board food prepared by our own experienced cook during trekking. All meals during trekking and only breakfast during the driving or touring sessions are included in this trip. We are expected to pay for lunches and dinners in the city in Lhasa on our own. Breakfast will be taken in the same place we stay the night. Similar arrangements can also be made for dinner. Lunch will be taken en route to the next destination(s). It is advisable to budget Yuan 60 to Yuan 100(USD10 to USD16) for lunch and dinner in a single day. Only basic meal choices like Tibetan bread and tsampa porridge will be available in remote locations. Freshly cooked full board food will be served by trained and experienced cooks on full-board basis during camping.

Recommended Clothing & Accessories

As the tempreture varies greatly between day and night (from Max. 20 degrees celcius to Min. -10 degrees celcius) one should prepare accordingly. Woolen gloves, Balaclava, Sun hat, Thermal wear, Water bottle, Woolen sockes, Personal Towel, Light and Warm parka Jacket, Sunglasses, Sun Cream, Torch with extra batteries, Muffler, Mask, Raincoat, Sweater, T-Shirt, Sleeping bag and comfortable walking shoes are recommended for Ganden to Samye Trekking.

Travel Insurance

Full travel insurance coverage for medicine, Helicopter evacuation, if in case of immergency, lost of belongings and trip cancilation is strongly recommended for this trip.

Best Time to Travel

Spring (April to May) and Autumn (September to October) is the best seasons for the Everest Advance Base Camp Norrth Trek.

Day 01: Arrive in Lhasa

Our guide will assist you to check in Tibet with your permit at Lhasa airport. After completion of immigration formalities, you will be dropped to your hotel. The distance between airport to Lhasa city where you hotel is located is 65km, 1 hrs drive is required.

Day 02: Lhasa full day sightseeing

Full day guided tour in Lhasa. In the morning visit Potala, which was originally constructed in 637 by Songtsen Gampo, the first king of the united Tibet, and later expanded and served as the winter residence of the Dalai Lamas as well as the religious-political nexus of traditional Tibet? In the afternoon visit Jokhang monastery, the center of the Tibetan Buddhism and the sacred land of Buddhist followers where thousands of pilgrims come for worship every day. The temple, built in 647, is the earliest wood-and-masonry structure still existing in Tibet. Walk on the Barkhor street surrounding Jokhang, a big free market with its prolific stalls for selling local specialties.

Day 03: Lhasa full day sightseeing

It is another full day sightseeing in Lhasa, In the morning visit Drepung monastery the sacred land of Gelug Sect., which was established in 1416 and the second, third and fourth Dalai Lama once resided in. Afterwards visit Norbulinka, the summer residence of the Dalai Lamas. In the afternoon visit Sera monastery, which was created in 1419 and has always been an important Buddhist seminary. As rose are planted everywhere in the monastery, it is also called “the court of wild rose”. Today still 200 lamas live in there. The "Buddhism Scriptures Debate" in Sera is very famous.

Day 04: Lhasa - Gyantse - Shigatse (3900m) Drive via Yamdrok Lake / 385km / 7 hrs

In the morning drive to Gyantse along the Kyichu River. On the Kamba La (4.796 m) have a fantastic view of the holy lake Yamdrok (4441 m), one of the three holy lakes in Tibet and the largest habitat of waterfowls in south Tibet. On one of the peninsulas of the spear-shaped lake lies the holy Mt. Donang Sangwari (5,340m), and the snow peaks of Nojin Gangzang (7,191m) and Jangzang Lhomo rise in the distance. Afterwards Pass by the 5.010 m high Karo La and the Simi La to Gyantse (approx. 3.950 m). In the afternoon visit Pelkor Monastery as well as the splendid Kumbum Stupa (100-Thousand-Buddha Pagoda) nearby, both of them built in the15th century and situated in the northwestern edge of Gyantse. Drive to Shigatse (3880m), the second largest city with 40,000 inhabitants in Tibet and the traditional capital of the Tsang.

Day 05: Shigatse - Tingri (4350m) Drive / 210km / 4 hrs

In the morning visit Tashilunpo monastery of Gelug Sect, the seat of the Panchen Lama built in 1447 and one of the six grand monasteries in Tibet. PM drive to Old Tingri (4.350 m; approx. 300 km) over Tso-La (4500m) and Gyatso-La (5252m). Meet with trek guide and crew. Guest house

Day 06: Trekking Old Tingri – Lungchang (4350m) / 4-5 hrs

Start trek along Ra Chu stream to beyond Chholling and Lungchang villages (4350 m). Camping

Day07: Trekking Lungchang – Drokpa (4860m) / 6-7 hrs

Continue trek to Drokpa (4860 m) encampment below Lamna La. Camping

Day 08: Trekking Drokpa – Draka Chu (4730m) / 7 hrs

Cross over Langma La (5075 m) to Draka Chu river (4730 m). Camping

Day 10: Rongbuk to Everest Base Camp (5250m) hiking – back to Rongbuk

In the morning we walk 7 km to the Everest Base Camp and do some sightseeing there. Walking or drive by horse vehicle to Rongbuk. In the afternoon on trek back to Rongbuk. Guest house.

Day 11: Rongbuk to Kyirong (3900m) Drive / 380km / 6-7 hrs

Today we will drive over newly bult road on Tibetan plateu toward border local town Kyirong. Kyirong route is recently opened for tourist after massive earthquake in Nepal which cause the Kodari border closed. It is an alternative route to travel overland from/to Nepal.

Day 12: Kyirong - Rasuwagadi - Kathmandu (1300m) Drive / 210km / 7 hrs

Today our journey toward Nepal/Tibet border begins early to clear immigration formalities at the border named Rasuwagadi, our representative will help to clear immigration formalities. After that we will drive toward Kathmandu.

Day 13: Kathmandu free day or sightseeing

Today you have a full day at Kathmandu which you could use on your own program whether you like to visit on your own or get a guided sightseeing of Kathmandu world heritage sites. it is your choice! Evening we will have farewell dinner hosted by the Tibet Holidays.

Day 13: Final Departure.

Today you have free time until airpot reporting time. Drop to airport final departure toward home.
